The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
The first season presents a diverse group of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner commented recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
